Customizable Control Areas for Localized Defect Evaluation

Overview

This module enables users to define one or more inspection zones within a scanned image. Each zone can have different defect tolerance criteria, allowing highly precise, context-aware quality control.

Why It Matters

Different areas of a product often have different functional or visual requirements. For example, a small defect in a sealing edge might be critical, while the same defect on a hidden surface may be acceptable. This module ensures consistent, area-specific evaluation based on risk and visibility.

Targeted Evaluation for Flexible Quality Rules

Defect Detection Limited to Defined Control Areas

The surface of a milled part is divided into predefined zones. These are the only areas subject to inspection rules. A surface defect appears within an active inspection zone. The system flags it as NOK according to configured limits. Multiple zones are evaluated simultaneously. Each zone can have unique tolerance thresholds for defect size or count.

Example Use Case

A manufacturer of metal housings sets two zones on each scanned part. In the top zone, any defect over 1 mm is classified as NOK. In the bottom zone, defects up to 3 mm are still acceptable. This allows strict quality control where needed while reducing unnecessary waste.
